Zen Weekend, 26-27 September – led by Zen Teacher Maddie É Shin Parisio

An opportunity to deepen your practice under the guidance of a highly respected Zen nun.

About the teacher

Maddie É Shin Parisio began practising in 1996 and received bodhisattva ordination from Shogen Jean Baby in 1998.

She was resident at La Gendronnière Temple for a year in 2006 and was ordained a nun by her master Philippe Rei Ryu Coupey in 2007. She was given Dharma transmission from him in 2021.

She teaches both within Sangha Sans Demeure in Europe as well as the British Sangha (IZAUK).

Maddie is responsible for the Norwich and Wells-next-the-sea Zen groups in Norfolk. She lives in Norwich.

Sunday 27th September

11:30 – Informal picnic / lunch in a local restaurant

What to bring

Please bring dark, loose clothing for zazen

For Saturday lunch, you will need a bowl with a spoon and fork (or chopsticks), along with a cloth (such as a tea towel) to wrap them in

Bring a zafu cushion/bench and a zabuton mat if you have one; please note on the registration form if you need to borrow these. Chairs and a small number of sitting benches will also be available

Catering information

Lunch will be provided on Saturday. Please indicate special dietary requirements on the registration form

For Sunday lunch, further detail will be provided on the Saturday. Depending on the weather, it will be either (a) a picnic or (b) lunch at a local restaurant . The dojo is booked for a different group from 11:00 am onward on Sunday

Recommended donation of £40, with £25 for low-waged
